Housekeeper / Home Support Assistant
Purpose of the Role
To provide comprehensive housekeeping and home support within a private household, ensuring the home is clean, organised, welcoming and well maintained. The role is designed to support the homeowners by taking responsibility for routine household tasks, enabling greater flexibility for family time, personal commitments and periods of rest, while maintaining a warm and supportive home environment.
The successful candidate will become a trusted and valued presence within the home, providing practical assistance alongside a friendly, respectful and caring approach.
Role Overview
This position combines high-quality housekeeping with light home support and home cooking. The role requires someone who takes pride in maintaining excellent standards while working collaboratively with the homeowners, recognising that household responsibilities may sometimes be shared.
The successful candidate should be comfortable working independently while also being happy to spend time with members of the household over a cup of tea and contribute positively to the family atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities
Housekeeping
Undertake a thorough clean of the home on a weekly basis, including:
- Vacuuming throughout the property
- Dusting and polishing
- Mopping hard floors
- Cleaning bathrooms and toilets
- General tidying and presentation of all rooms
- Daily / Regular Household Duties
- Maintain a clean and organised kitchen
- Load and unload the dishwasher
- Prepare hot drinks for family members and visitors (including contractors where appropriate)
- Sweep or brush kitchen floors
- Clean the downstairs cloakroom/toilet
- Assist with grocery shopping when required
- Support with laundry, washing and ironing
- Assist with feeding household pets
- Periodic Cleaning
Undertake additional housekeeping tasks as required, including:
- Internal window cleaning
- Cleaning skirting boards
- Other deep-cleaning tasks on a rotational basis
Home Cooking
Prepare wholesome, home-cooked meals for the household, including:
- Preparing meals in advance for refrigeration or freezing (e.g. casseroles, cottage pie, lasagne, soups)
- Baking cakes and homemade treats for the family
- Developing an understanding of the household's food preferences
- Adapting meals over time to meet changing dietary or nutritional requirements, including preparing softer foods if required
Working Arrangements
Monday to Friday
Five days per week
Approximately 5–7 hours per day
Typical working hours between 10:00am and 5:00pm (to be agreed)

Additional Information
This role is intended to complement, rather than replace, the homeowners' own involvement in managing their home. Flexibility is important, as members of the household may choose to undertake some domestic tasks themselves from time to time. The successful candidate will be someone who is happy to work as part of a team, supporting the household while respecting individual preferences and routines.
