Private Housekeeper & Cook (Live-Out) – London (W11) About the Role

A busy family based in Kensington (W11) is seeking an experienced and professional Private Housekeeper & Cook to join their household on a permanent, full-time basis. The household consists of a couple, three school-aged children (ages 9–14), a dog, and a bunny, living in a five-bedroom home arranged over four floors with an additional TV room on the fifth floor.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the smooth day-to-day running of the home, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and organisation, while also preparing nutritious and varied family meals. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive, trustworthy, and experienced household professional who enjoys both housekeeping and cooking.

Working Hours

  • Monday to Friday: 12:00 pm – 9:00 pm (one weekday off)
  • Sunday: 11:00 am – 6:00/7:00 pm
  • Permanent, full-time position

Key Responsibilities Housekeeping

  • Maintain a clean, organised, and well-presented home at all times
  • General cleaning and tidying throughout the property
  • Clean and maintain kitchens, bathrooms, and living areas
  • Hoovering, dusting, and mopping
  • Bed making and bedroom upkeep
  • Laundry, ironing, and wardrobe organisation
  • Monitor household supplies and replenish as required
  • Liaise with and oversee tradespeople and household maintenance appointments
  • Provide basic care for the family dog and bunny as needed (walking and feeding)
  • Communicate with the other housekeeper to ensure the home runs smoothly

Cooking & Household Management

  • Prepare high-quality daily meals for the family, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner
  • Plan varied and nutritious menus, taking food intolerances into account
  • Manage grocery shopping and food ordering
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and hygiene standards
  • Monitor food stock, ensuring items are stored correctly and expired products are removed
  • Support occasional entertaining, including:
    • Small dinner parties of approximately 10 guests
    • Larger seasonal gatherings of up to 12–15 guests
    • Both formal and informal dining styles, including buffet service
    • Approximately four events per year
  • Assist with table setting and light service when required

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years' recent and consistent experience in a similar private household role
  • Strong cooking skills with the ability to prepare a variety of family meals to a high standard
  • Excellent housekeeping and organisational abilities
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to family life and changing schedules
  • Able to work independently and take initiative
  • Reliable, trustworthy, and highly professional
  • Discreet and respectful of privacy and confidentiality
  • Good spoken English and strong communication skills
  • Valid DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Excellent, checkable references
