Live-in Housekeeper / House & Dog Guardian

The Role
We are seeking an experienced, kind, and reliable live-in housekeeper to look after our home on a permanent, part-time basis, with additional house and dog guardianship responsibilities when we are away [usually just 4 - 6 weeks over the year].This is to replace a housekeeper of 12 years who is retiring.
This role suits someone who enjoys countryside living, is highly trustworthy, and is comfortable taking responsibility for a property and dogs during periods when the principals are not in residence.
- Housekeeping Duties (Primary Role)
- Cleaning and maintaining the house to a high standard
- Washing and ironing (including expensive and delicate fabrics)
- Wardrobe and laundry care
- General household organisation
Hours & Schedule
- 25 hours per week
- Monday to Friday only
- Flexibility on configuration of hours, with a minimum of 4 hours worked on Mondays
- Housekeeping hours will not exceed 25 hours
House & Dog Guardianship (When Owners Are Away)
When the principals are away (approximately 4–6 weeks per year] plus periods spent in London which will usually fall during the working week and NOT the weekend), the role will include:
- Caring for the dogs (feeding, routines, companionship; no expectation of excessive walking unless agreed)
- General oversight and security of the house
Although the principals will often take the dogs with them to London.
Accommodation
- Separate, self-contained one-bedroom accommodation
- Furnished or unfurnished (by agreement)
- All utilities and household costs covered by the employer
- Partner considered
- One well-behaved dog may be allowed
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum 10 years' experience in private households with a strong work record
- An excellent laundress, confident with high-end and delicate fabrics
- Dog lover with proven experience caring for dogs
- Car driver (essential)
- Previously lived and worked in the countryside
- Trustworthy, warm, kind, and discreet
- Comfortable spending time alone on a rural property when principals are away
