Part-time housekeeper (self-employed)

A family of five is looking for an experienced and self-sufficient housekeeper to support them at their home in West London. The family and household are informal but also very private. Being mindful of everyone's personal space is critical. Mum is often at home, so this person needs to fit in seamlessly, being friendly and supportive but never intrusive. Discretion is key.

 

The family would like to find a reliable proactive candidate who can take ownership of the daily running of the home on a long-term basis. The cleaner attends on Mondays and there is a nanny, so this role complements the existing team.

 

The ideal candidate will have several years experience working in a private household and be able to act independently day-to-day whilst being comfortable taking direction on the bigger jobs.

 

General duties include but are not limited to:

  • Hands-on housekeeping: dusting, vacuuming, mopping, making beds, cleaning bathrooms, kitchen etc.
  • Daily laundry - washing, folding and putting away, including careful checking of labels and care of specialist items
  • Wardrobe management - ensuring all clothes are in the right rooms, clearing out damaged clothes / organising by season
  • Tidying, deep cleaning and decluttering as needed
  • Maintaining excellent hygiene standards - keeping the house spic and span at all times
  • Organisation of the children's rooms • Ad-hoc cooking if/when required
  • Ad-hoc light childcare duties (i.e. if the nanny is sick).

 

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • 3+ years previous experience in a HNW private household
  • Must be fully fluent in English
  • Respectful of boundaries, privacy, and personal space
  • Kind, patient, calm, professional, helpful and good-tempered
  • Reliable, trustworthy, proactive and self-motivated
  • Very child and pet friendly
  • A sharp eye for detail, strong organisational/time management skills
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent laundry and cooking abilities
  • Full UK driving license desirable but not essential
