Live-in Carer / Housekeeper (Full-Time)
Location: Bunny, Nottingham
Accommodation: Private bedroom and bathroom provided

Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and emotionally intelligent live-in Carer/Housekeeper/Companion to support an elderly couple in their home. This is a long-term role combining personal care, companionship, and full household management.
The position is centred around supporting a 90-year-old gentleman living with Alzheimer's, alongside assisting his wife (81), who would benefit from both practical help and respite support.
Our priority is to maintain a high quality of life, dignity, and independence within the home environment.
Hours:
The main times support is needed are:
- Morning (breakfast)
- Midday (lunch)
- Late afternoon/early evening (early dinner & sundowning period 4–8pm)
- Bedtime just to give tablets and help him get settled.
Sundowning can be unpredictable, so some flexibility is important. Support in the late afternoon is mainly to assist the lady of the house if needed, even if not constantly active.
A possible structure could be two daily shifts:
8:30am – 1:00pm
3:00pm – 7:00pm
With days off on Tuesday and Thursday.
The key priority times are morning, mid-afternoon, and bedtime (for medication and settling).
Key Responsibilities
Care & Support
- Provide day-to-day support for a gentleman with Alzheimer's
- Offer gentle guidance with routines such as dressing, washing, and personal hygiene
- Monitor wellbeing and provide calm, reassuring support during periods of confusion or agitation
- Engage in meaningful companionship (e.g. conversation, light activities, time outdoors)
- Support safe mobility and general supervision
Behavioural Support
- Confidently manage occasional agitation or challenging behaviour with patience and understanding
- Apply knowledge of dementia care techniques to de-escalate situations
- Maintain dignity and respect at all times, particularly given the client's strong character and professional background
Household Management
- Full housekeeping duties including cleaning, laundry, and bed changing
- Organising cupboards and maintaining a well-run, tidy home
- Meal preparation and general kitchen management
- Supporting the lady of the house while respecting her independence and preferences
Driving & Errands
- Drive the couple to appointments, shopping trips, lunches, and outings
- Take the gentleman out independently to provide respite for his wife
- Run errands and manage household supplies
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in Alzheimer's or dementia care (essential)
- Background in nursing or similar care environments highly desirable
- Calm, patient, and emotionally intelligent with strong interpersonal skills
- Confident working independently within a private household
- Respectful, discreet, and able to build trust with both clients
- Strong organisational and housekeeping abilities
Full UK driving licence (essential)
