Carer/Housekeeper/Cook

The role (overview)

Discreet, hands-on all-rounder to support an independent elderly lady in a respectful, low-key private household.

Circa 20% care initially (will increase over time), with the balance across housekeeping, family cooking, errands and driving. You will work as part of a small respectful team and provide cover during colleagues' annual leave.

Key responsibilities

• Personal care (light, dignified): assist with bathing, grooming, mobility support as needed. [do not need formal care training but must have experience of caring for someone elderly or invalid].
• Health & meds: organise prescriptions and medication, basic record keeping; book and accompany to GP/consultant; coordinate with pharmacy, have full oversight of principals health.
• Cooking: two or three times a week to plan and prepare fresh, nutritious meals, confident home-style cooking, high standard of kitchen hygiene.
• Housekeeping (with the full time housekeeper): daily cleaning, laundry/ironing, beds, occasional deep-clean tasks.
• Errands & driving: groceries, prescriptions, appointments; safe, considerate driving.
• Companionship & routine: conversation, light activities, gentle exercise/walks.
• House admin: meet tradespeople, receive deliveries, basic email ability.
• Travel cover: accompany principal on 2/ 3 trips per year to ensure seamless care.

• Team player, reliable timekeeper, comfortable to take on tasks as needs evolve.
• Confident home cook; happy to learn family favourites, follow recipes.
• Basic tech-comfortable (smartphone, email, simple written logs).

Requirements

• Right to work in the UK; Enhanced DBS (or willing to obtain).
• Strong private-household and care experience essential with references.
• Clean UK driving licence, automatic car available to drive whilst at work.
• Current Emergency First Aid & Manual Handling (or willing to certify).
• Commitment to confidentiality/NDA.
